Body Conscious: How a Self Proclaimed Exercise Hater is Learning to Love the Gym

I hate exercise. Hate it. I always have. I've long been jealous of people who talk about things like a runner's high or how they just have to get their daily cardio to 'feel normal.' I feel perfectly normal lying on the couch thank you very much. What might strike you as funny is that I played soccer as a kid, on up into high school. For soccer I had to run. A lot. Running is exercise. Which we've already established that I hate. So that pretty much meant soccer wasn't my favorite thing. I did…See More

CULTURE: A Look Back at Who Came Before You

A few months ago, I signed up for a free trial membership of Ancestry.com. At first I wasn't sure if I would spend much time looking at it, but then it sucked me in. I loved reading all the names and other information of my grandparents' grandparents. There's something about seeing historical…See More

CONNECT: How to Make the Most of a Creative Conference

So I must begin this post on a sad note...since I will not be in attendance at the latest installment of the Southern Coterie's lineup of events, a.k.a. The Southern C Summit - Charleston. For those of you who are going, feel oh so lucky because many other folks (including yours truly) would love to be in your shoes! For those who aren't, I feel your pain. But whether you are attending the Southern Coterie's latest summit or hoping to attend the next one, it's important to approach any sort of…See More

Confectionery: The Loving Pie Company

Nestled in a small blue house in the quaint Berry Hill neighborhood of Nashville, Tennessee is The Loving Pie Company. This adorable little pie shop was started in 2012 by Suzanne Loving, whose savory and sweet pie creations are enough to keep diners coming back again and again. I recently visited The Loving Pie Company for the…See More

The Importance of Friendship

Friends are such an important part of our lives, our first connection with the world outside our families. I've been blessed to have some wonderful friends come into my life through the years. Some have remained and others have drifted away. I haven't always been the best friend, but I've learned a lot of lessons and hopefully…See More

Spread the Love with Simple Valentine's Day Treats

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and it's a time when we want to spread some love to the ones who matter most in our lives. Anybody can go the expected route with roses, expensive chocolates and those little hearts with messages on them. I'm sharing some fun, easy Valentine's Day treats that you can make without spending a lot of money. First, some sweets for your sweetie. All of these candies/treats can be found at most grocery stores and I've included links to the printables as well.…See More

Warm Thoughts during Cold Days

Frigid temperatures have been the norm for most of the south lately, but that doesn't keep me from dreaming of warmer weather. In fact, I'm always scheming about possible trips to take. One spot I'd really like to visit is Folly Beach, South Carolina.Check out this great video from the all new FollyBeach.com, the official guide to Folly. Doesn't it just make you want to go there? Everything looks so peaceful and serene. Maybe it's just…See More
