"The only way I could figure they could approve upon Coca-Cola, one of life's most delightful elixirs, which studies prove will heal the sick and occasionally raise the dead, is to put rum or bourbon in it."- Lewis Grizzard

I love bourbon.  I don't know why exactly.  Maybe it's the mossy, woodsy, heady taste?  Or the dark amber liquid, once touched upon the tongue, eases worries, searches the soul and softens dreams.  Or maybe because it's as Southern as Sweet Tea and just as proud.

Yes, it can heal what ails you.  And right about now, it's the gosh-forsaken South Georgia heat.  Hands down this is one of the best Southern porch sipping cocktails to enjoy this summer.

My friend "Kentucky" Kat suggests using Marker's Mark, Blanton's, Booker's, or Pappy Van Winkle because it's not bourbon if it isn't from the Kentucky.

Cheers, y'all!  Here's to a Happy Summer!

Raines. We've been drinking this for years in Montrose. We called it Old Fashion slushies. It's in our cookbook!!! All great things begin at home!
