Like most people, I am a big fan of long, lazy, mimosa-filled brunches on the weekend. I often have a hard time deciding between all the great options we have here in Charleston. A few of my favorites are The Fat Hen, The Marina Variety Store,
and the Farmer's Market
. But on Sunday mornings, there is one place that trumps all, Sticky Bun Sunday at Wildflour Pastry.
Now, I've professed my love for these sticky buns before in passing, but I feel like they deserve the true spotlight. You have a choice between a sticky bun that is covered in pecans or my personal favorite the cinnamon bun that is drowning in cream cheese icing.
The bakery is tucked away on Spring Street with a tiny tropical courtyard and two little tables inside. Some weekends you may get there early enough to grab a seat and other weekends, there is a line out the door. When I can't secure a table, I often take one to go and head down to water or somewhere South of Broad.
Next time you are in Charleston, drop all your Sunday morning plans, and head here. Come early though, once they are out, they are out and you won't have another chance until the following Sunday.
